S&P Report Reaffirms ACE’s Ratings

On December 31, 2009, rating agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P) reaffirmed its “A+” (Strong) financial strength rating on ACE’s core operating insurance companies, as well as its positive outlook on the rating—meaning that a rating upgrade is possible within the next year. Supporting its rating decision, S&P’s credit analysis report cited a number of ACE’s strengths, including its global presence, diversification by product line and sector, very strong operating performance and liquidity, conservative investment portfolio, and strong capital adequacy and enterprise risk management. S&P also reaffirmed the counterparty credit rating for ACE Limited of “A-“ (Strong), also with a positive outlook.

ACE 25th Anniversary

This year, 2010, marks the 25th anniversary of ACE – a significant milestone for our company. ACE was established in 1985 by 34 founding corporate sponsors to provide hard-to-find excess liability and directors and officers coverage. That summer, ACE Bermuda opened for business and soon after, ACE wrote its first insurance policy.
